Different Types of Portable Gas Grills
Portable gas grills are those grilling
appliances used for cooking that can be easily moved to
any place you want. There are different types of portable
grills and each one of them is designed for a specific
location and use. Here is brief look at some of
them.
The first types of portable grills are those
designed for use in patios and decks. These grills have
wheels fitted on them that help to move them with ease
from one place to another. Some of the less expensive
models in this type of gas grill use only canisters,
while the more expensive ones have provisions to be
connected with a built in gas line.
Some of the portable gas grills in this type are
designed with features similar to a full-fledged kitchen
stove and performs equally well. Some are so elaborate
that they have warming areas and multiple burners.
However, these portable grills are not really
‘portable’.
The next type of gas grills is however ‘really’
portable as they are designed for backpacking. These
grills are compact, collapsible and can be easily
transported in a typical truck. While the smallest models
are not so small, they can be fitted into a
backpack.
These types of portable grills have grilling
plates and a maximum of four burners. They are perfect
for camping and impromptu barbeques. However, you can
rarely expect the convenience or the features present in
a larger grill and these cannot be connected to direct
gas lines, unless you put in some serious work which
might not be worth it at all for this type of
grills.
The last type includes individual camp stoves.
These qualify as gas grills only because they are powered
by gas. Some are so small that they are no larger than a
typical tin can. The only notable feature of this type is
that you can adjust the flame level. But they are very
compact and can be easily carried in a
backpack.
The amount of skill required to use portable gas
grills depends on the type of grill used. While the
skills needed to use a wheel mounted grill packed with
features is not much different than that required for a
kitchen stove, a compact camp stove requires cooking
skills that are completely different.
The only way to figure out how to use a
particular grill is through practice and following
instructions and recipes specially designed for specific
types of portable gas grills.
